LANDSCAPE FOREMAN

Terra Nova Ecological Landscaping is a full-service landscape contracting company. We provide regenerative garden design, installation, and maintenance services. Our motto is “Unpaving the way since 1988.” Terra Nova was rated Best Landscaper in Santa Cruz in 2019, 2020, and 2021 by Good Times magazine, and has several awards from our local CLCA chapter.

We are seeking a talented landscape foreman. This is a key leadership position with our company. This employee will work closely with the owner-contractor and estimator. They must have technical knowledge on best practices for installing gardens and landscapes: building paths and patios; decks, arbors, fences, and raised beds; rock walls and other structures; planting; drip irrigation and controllers. We also install rainwater harvesting tanks and greywater systems. We do residential and commercial landscapes. We also provide edible landscaping and Permaculture services.

This is a great opportunity for a steady, hardworking individual to be a key player in a small but high-profile landscaping company, installing beautiful projects for grateful customers. You will be doing the builds yourself with one or two assistants. You will be responsible for quality control and providing “johnny-on-the-spot” service.

DAYS/ HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30 with paid ½ hour lunch, and two 15 minute breaks.

COMPENSATION:

$22-30 hour, DOE

COMMUNICATIONS & TECHNOLOGY:

The Senior Foreman must have their own smart phone to communicate with other employees, and for apps such as T-Sheets. Terra Nova pays a phone stipend of $50/month for full-time employees. We tag team by phone, text and email.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Three years of in-the-field progressive landscaping experience
• Core knowledge of masonry and rockwork, irrigation, planting and carpentry
• Comfortable in a leadership role
• Clean driving record
• Able to drive truck with trailer
• Comfortable performing physically rigorous work and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Reliable, dependable and punctual, with excellent time management skills
• Detail-oriented and artisanal builder
• Great team member—inspires trust with co-workers and clients
