About this blog
My intent with this web log is to help bring sustainable landscaping to the world. Because we are tired of mow, blow and go landscaping that abuses the environment in the name of the environment. Period.
There are so many great and inspiring alternatives. Our cities need ecological landscaping, the air needs it, the soil needs it, the water needs it.
Indeed the earth needs landscaping that is healing and joyful and abundant and diverse and beautiful.

The landscape industry needs to become a truly ‘green’ industry. My guarantee with this blog is to show a correlation between the wide variety of topics and subjects that I may post and how the heck it relates to ecological landscaping. Ecological landscaping is nothing if it’s not big picture. It is a path I’ve been walking many years and every day it is new. Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
Cheers!

Ken: you got a nice mention (and some follow-up comments) at a website in the Sierra Foothills (Golden Gecko). Check it out at http://thegoldengecko.blogspot.com/
July 11th, 2007 at 10:01 pmI have a small landscape business in Portland Oregon and have done numerous projects with urbanite. However, I am being asked to build a larger wall than I have ever done and need help on material and labor amounts. The wall will be 3′x60′ – is there a calculation that I can use to figure how much urbanite it will require & is there a rule of thumb on how to figure how long it will take to build?
I had not heard the term urbanite until I started planning this project and have found your site very helpful on the subject and great pictures for ideas.
